Field Surveyor (I, II, III)

 

Gordon, a multi-disciplinary firm of design professionals with the common goal of providing creative design solutions to today’s challenging environment is seeking an entry level to mid-level Field Surveyor (I, II, III) for its Chantilly VA Headquarters office and Western Loudoun locations.  Our staff of Civil Engineers, Landscape Architects, Planners, Security Consultants, and Surveyors work together in an enjoyable work atmosphere where the employees’ goals are as important as the corporate goals.

Responsibilities include:

  • Able to read, write, and communicate effectively to maintain optimal productivity with field and office staff.
  • The setup of surveying equipment such as total stations, GPS receivers, and leveling instruments under the direction of senior field personnel.
  • Understands written survey task procedures and protocols per the Standard Operating Procedures for Field Surveying and Survey Work Tickets.
  • Calibrating surveying instruments such as total stations, theodolites, GPS receivers, and leveling instruments to ensure that the equipment is properly aligned and adjusted for accurate measurements.
  • The limited ability to conduct some field survey tasks alone or lead a Field Surveyor I in the collection of field measurements using manual or electronic methods and has the ability to: record accurate records of measurements, notes, and sketches.
  • Assists senior field personnel in directing and training of less experienced personnel, when one is assigned to the crew.
  • Perform field note reduction of as-built notes and level loops.
  • Performs all duties of a Field Surveyor I or II as needed, if in a higher position.
  • Open and willing to learn for advancement and professional growth.
  • Able to work overtime hours as needed to fulfill project goals.
